On 17 May 2022, the Dutch Media Authority (CvdM) published the new Policy Rule on Qualification of Commercial Media Services on Demand 2022. Very briefly: as of 1 July 2022, vloggers with 500,000 or more followers must register with the CvdM, join the Advertising Code Committee, register with NICAM (age rating) and comply with the rules of the Media Act (including the also renewed policy rules of the CvdM on sponsorship and product placement).
The CvdM chose to introduce its supervision of vloggers step by step, and for the time being will only actively enforce the three most important rules:
1. Transparency about advertising, product placement and sponsorship
2. Protection of children from harmful content
3. Mention of identity + communication under supervision of CvdM

The Advertising Code Social Media & Influencer Marketing is being updated with media law requirements. On 1 July 2022 the amended code will be published on the website of the Advertising Code Committee (https://www.reclamecode.nl/english/).
With the entry into force of media regulations per July, the regulations on influencer marketing will again become a little more complicated. And that while these regulations weren’t already a piece of cake for many influencers. Fortunately, DDMA (the industry association for data-driven marketing, service and sales) has launched a beautiful website with all the rules for influencers clearly arranged by platform: https://influencerregels.com/ (in Dutch).
